Myofascial Release & Physical Therapy in Frederick & Hagerstown, MD | Vital Alignment Chiropractic
Hands-on soft-tissue work plus the rehab that makes it stick — so relief lasts past the parking lot.
What it is
Fascia is the connective tissue that wraps every muscle in your body. After an injury, surgery, or long stretches held in the same posture, it thickens and binds down, restricting the glide between layers that should slide freely over one another. You feel it as a tightness that stretching never quite reaches.
Myofascial release uses sustained, directed pressure to let those restrictions unwind. It's slower and more deliberate than a massage — you hold at the barrier and wait for the tissue to yield rather than forcing through it. Paired with therapeutic stretching, it restores the range of motion that adjustments depend on.
Then comes the part that decides whether relief holds: the physical therapy. Specific, progressive exercise so the muscles that should be carrying the load start carrying it again. Without that, the old pattern reasserts itself and you're back in a few weeks wondering why.
